  • How long are sessions?
Sessions are typically 1 hour in length, with an initial consultation of 1.5 - 2 hours. Some consultations can go longer at times depeneding on the outcomes of the session and modalities being used. You will be provided with notice of session times and length prior to each consultation. Our extended session times allow us to achieve a greater amount of work with you for your benefit, compared to traditional 45-50 minute sessions.
  • How best can I prepare for my session?
Preparation is not by any measure mandatory. In saying that being in a position where you have taken ownership over your own personal need for change can work wonders in identifying and changing interfering negative patterns and behaviours. I suggest doing some writing, just half a page or so to begin gaining clarity on the issue you want to deal with (before your session). Meditation or just some quiet reflection time is also very beneficial. You will be given instruction at the end of every session as to any required preparation for the following session.
  • How will I feel following the session?
Generally, during hypnosis, clients express feeling like they have woken from a peaceful sleep state, although aware of the goals and outcomes the session. They report feeling invigorated, refreshed and balanced. Depending on the depth of state and the modality being used, people encounter many different levels from blissful exhilaration to light relaxation. During our talk therapy sessions, there are times where you will feel energised and other times where you will feel a little deflated. Our sessions will typically involve deep inner work so shifts and renewed inner-awareness can result in many different presentations. This is normal and is all part of the healing process. You will have my continued support between sessions.
  • How many sessions will I need?
The number of sessions required entirely depends on the presentation of the issue, the length of time the issue has been active in your life and your commitment to change. Some issues will see huge shifts within a few sessions, whereas others will require ongoing sessions. Reviews occur every 6 consultations.
  • Is Hypnosis mind control? Can I be made to do anything against my will? Will I be aware during the process?
No, hypnosis is certainly not mind control. Hypnosis is a state of very deep relaxation. It is more akin to the state you feel just before you fall asleep, and just before you wake up, albeit for a longer period of time. You cannot be made to do anything against your will, nor have information extracted from you unwillingly. This is a common misconception. You will be aware and mindful within yourself during the process. Our role is to work with your subconscious mind, establishing connections to your conscious mind, emotional mind and body mind.
  • Hypnotherapy & Other-Therapy?
Other therapies generally work with your conscious mind and behaviour to establish embedded change in your psyche or subconscious mind. Hypnotherapy talks directly to your subconscious mind to effect change. Hypnotherapy realises that you cannot change the pain, trauma or struggles of the past. What hypnotherapy does, is speak directly to the subconscious connections between your processes, emotions and memories - to reformulate your inner dialogue and mode of action. In so doing, hypnosis augments your ability and awareness to a point far above the issue at hand - allowing you to deal with it from a place of self-empowerment and clarity. Hypnotherapy is a remarkably effective tool that can be used alongside other types of therapies or stand-alone.
  • Can I be hypnotised? How would I know?
Everyone has the capacity to be hypnotised. Consider the process as entering into a contract between your conscious and sub-conscious mind giving yourself permission to be hypnotised. It is beneficial to actually enter into this contract before you come into the session, and we will reinforce it once you arrive. The hypnotic trance state is a natural state that your mind and your body know how to enter into, and have entered into many times in your lifetime whether you have called it that or not. Some people will enter trance at depth more readily than others but everyone is able to enter into trance to some degree effecting beneficial therapeutic shifts. The longer a practitioner works with you if you, the more adept you will both become at finding the access points to guide you into state.
  • What if my mind is too strong to be hypnotised?
Then that is fantastic news for you! This means that you can easily channel that ability into the therapeutic process allowing yourself to be guided into hypnotic trance. Once in trance, we can work on therapy part to effect massive change. What is important here is not the strength of your mind, it is your willingness to engage in the process and for your conscious mind to give your sub-conscious mind permission to follow suggestion into hypnotic trance.
  • Do you offer structured programs for each individual?
Yes, absolutely. We provide ongoing programs for individuals that are tailored to target the life-areas that they want to work on. We tend to find that other issues sometimes get 'teased out' during the hypnotherapy process, so the focus can shift from one thing to another. We provide a dynamic environment and adapt to these changes in process. Individual sessions and scripts are designed around these target areas and goals. Each presentation is intrinsically different and, if needs be, we can apply multiple modalities to reach the optimum result.
  • Should I stop taking my medication?
No, our modalities are not designed to be substituted for your medication. Should you find our therapies helpful, you can talk to your doctor about the strategy for controlling your issue or condition moving forward. Our therapies can be administered along side current medications and therapies, or stand alone, but we will never encourage you to make any changes to your current health regime as directed by your doctors. We are happy to consult with them to establish a course of therapy that is mutually agreed on by all parties should you request it.
  • Are you part of any professional associations?
Yes, we are an executive Member of the IICT (International Institute for Complementary Therapists)
